Irresistible Low FODMAP Spicy Vodka Pasta

Protein Spicy Vodka Pasta is a perfect blend of taste and nutrition, providing a healthy dose of protein while satisfying your cravings for a spicy pasta dish.  It is usually seasoned with spices such as chilli flakes or black pepper to add a bit of heat to the dish. This pasta dish is popular among fitness enthusiasts who want to enjoy a delicious meal without sacrificing their dietary goals.


  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 small clove of garlic, diced
  • 1/2 brown onion
  • 1/2 cup tomato paste
  • 1 cup light cooking cream
  • 2 tablespoon vodka
  • 2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 450 grams of shells protein or wholemeal pasta 
  • 1 can of canned butter beans (rinsed) 
  • 1 chopped bunch of broccolini 
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  • Basil, chopped, to serve
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil, garlic and onion. Cook until soft. Add chopped broccolini, add tomato paste, and cook until it appears darker in colour / caramelised. 
  2. Add in the cooking cream, then add in the vodka and cook through until evaporated.
  3. Add in the red pepper flakes. 
  4. Continue to stir until combined—season with salt and pepper. Remove the sauce from the heat.
  5. Cook pasta separately according to the packet.  When the pasta is done, save ¼ of the pasta water before draining.
  6. Place the pan with the pasta sauce over medium heat, add butter, and stir until melted. 
  7. Add pasta, butter beans, and pasta water to the sauce. Add parmesan cheese and stir. Add more salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Top with a sprinkling of parmesan cheese and basil to serve.
